Online retail website Flipkart is offering the Samsung Galaxy S7 phone at a reduced price of Rs 29,990 during its Samsung Mobiles Fest promotional sales event (November 6-8). The Samsung Galaxy S7 will receive a whopping Rs 16,010 price cut, during its promotional Samsung Mobiles Fest sales event, bringing the cost of the phone down from Rs 46,000 to Rs 29,990 according to Flipkart. If that wasn't enough, Flipkart will be also offering a whopping Rs 25,000 off on exchange, which will bring the effective cost of the phone down even further: to Rs 5,090 to be precise. There's a catch however.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 which was originally launched at a price of Rs 48,900 in March 2016 is now selling for a price as low as Rs 37,500 on rival e-retail platforms like Amazon India. Back in August, the Galaxy S7 got its first official price cut, bringing the price of the phone down to Rs 43,400. Samsung's own online store lists the Galaxy S7 at a best buy price of Rs 43,400 currently. What I am trying to say here is that while Flipkart may be offering a hefty discount on the Samsung Galaxy S7, it isn't as hefty as it's claiming it to be.

Furthermore, potential buyers can avail Flipkart's exchange offer -- that is maximum discount of Rs 25,000 -- in exchange of the Apple iPhone 7 Plus alone. Exchanging the Google Pixel XL, meanwhile, will land you a discount of Rs 17,900. What is particularly baffling is that no other smartphone would give you a Rs 25,000 discount in exchange meaning you'll absolutely have to have the iPhone 7 Plus if you're looking to buy the Samsung Galaxy S7 for Rs 5,090.

Catches aside, the Samsung Galaxy S7 at Rs 29,990 on Flipkart is still quite a steal deal. If you have an old phone that you're probably done with, exchanging it in return of some added discount is highly advisable. Flipkart seems to be the only e-commerce website offering the Galaxy S7 at such a low price. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a beautiful phone with a high-end premium design, a hallmark Super AMOLED display, top-notch hardware and outstanding cameras (both front and back).
