Thane: Absconding mafia don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar is reported to be suffering from bouts of depression owing to a family hurdle, which, despite his manpower and gunpower, he is unable to resolve, according to police officials.

ðŸ”œ click here more Entertainment news
The problem apparently is his third child - and only son - Moin Nawaz D. Kaskar, 31, who has turned his back on the "family business" is a devout Muslim who has chosen to become a Maulana, or a cleric-cum-religious teacher.
Moin is understood to be deadly against his father`s illegal activities which have given the entire family a notorious reputation worldwide and made many of them wanted fugitives everywhere," Thane Anti-Extortion Cell head Pradeep Sharma told IANS.

He said this and other nuggets of an internal strife in the family tumbled out in bits and pieces during the ongoing interrogation of Iqbal Ibrahim Kaskar, Dawood`s younger brother, who was nabbed in three extortion cases last September by the Thane AEC.

Iqbal Kaskar has informed the investigators that a deeply worried Dawood is afflicted by bouts of despondency over who would look after and handle his vast underworld empire in the future.

More so, as his other brother Anees Ibrahim Kaskar is now ageing and reportedly not in robust health, other brothers are deceased and no reliable close relatives available to take over the reins of the empire.
"His son is practically estranged from the family and all its businesses since the past few years, but it is not clear if he is on speaking terms with his father," said Sharma, a former "encounter specialist" dreaded by the mafia, with many scalps of dreaded criminals under his belt.
Iqbal Kaskar told the investigators that his nephew Moin is now a respected and qualified Maulana, who is a `Hafiz-e-Quran`, having memorized the entire Holy Quran which comprises 6,236 verses.

Besides, he has discarded the comforts of the family`s palatial bungalow in the fashionable Clifton area in the posh Saddar suburb of Karachi and opted to live a mendicant`s life in a mosque adjacent to their home.

However, his wife Saniya and their three minor children have not abandoned him and are living with him in the small quarters provided by the mosque management.

Moin`s main religious activities comprise teaching Holy Quran and Islamic preachings to young children, leading the call of prayers and congregation of `namaz` at various occasions and other social-religious responsibilities associated with a cleric.

"Its clear that Moin, who could have inherited his father`s vast legal and illegal business empires, ironically, has decided to become a man of God and completely shunned a life of luxury which was at his command," Sharma said.

Earlier, Moin, who is a business management graduate, used to help out his father in some of his line of works, but gradually drifted away to the "divine call of Allah".

A handsome young man, in September 2011, he settled down in life and married a wealthy Karchi businessman`s daughter, Saniya Shaikh, who helps out in her family businesses in Pakistan and Britain.

Of Moin`s siblings, Mahrukh got married in 2006 to Junaid, the son of Pakistani star cricketer Javed Miandad, and middle sister Mahreen tied the knot with a US-based businessman`s son in early 2011.

Earlier, Iqbal Kaskar had revealed that Dawood is in excellent health and living in Karachi under the protective eyes of the Pakistani agencies, dismissing all speculation on his physical well-being that keeps floating occasionally.

The investigators are hopeful that in the coming days, he may reveal more information about the Godfather`s family imbroglios and provide clues to the future of his activities.

After a civil service aspirant was gang-raped in Bhopal, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had said, "Those raping innocent girls should be hanged and the bill will be sent to the Government of India for its nod".

The politics of Padmavati: Did a mythical queen trigger turmoil in the nation?

A still unseen film about a mythical queen has the nation in turmoil. Where will it end?

Push and shove and slap the filmmaker in January 2017. Vandalise the sets in Nagpur in March. Threaten to chop off the leading lady's nose. Call to behead the two for Rs 10 crore. Attack a cinema hall in Kota. Declare a nationwide bandh.

🔜 click here more letest news

The Padmavati versus the politics drama has played out in troubling fashion with threats of Tarantinoesque violence. At the end of Kill Padmavati: Part One, it's the bad guys who win.
The Shri Rajput Karni Sena, a minor group of Rajputs headed by Lokendra Singh Kalvi, presently a BJP supporter and son of the late Union minister Kalyan Singh Kalvi, has temporarily won the battle by forcing the producers, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions, to postpone the film's release.

🔜 click here more mobile news

The filmmakers insist Padmavati "captures Rajput valour, dignity and tradition in all its glory" and that the film "will fill every Indian with pride". That the blow to Indian cinema comes when the Smriti Irani-led Information and Broadcasting Ministry celebrates Indian and world cinema at the International Film Festival of India in Goa is an irony not lost on anyone.

🔜 click here more business news
With the Sena, Kshatriya Samaj, Bajrang Dal, Rajasthan's royalty and more convinced that the film will distort history and hurt public sentiment, Bollywood finds its creative licence under siege. In an interview to India Today, Kalvi suggests that the Centre is complicit in Padmavati's delay. "The film's release has been postponed because of pressure from the people as well as an active role played by the top leadership, the PM and the I and B minister," he says.

🔜 click here more political news

This isn't the first time the decade-old outfit has locked horns with Bollywood in the name of Rajput pride. In 2008, it was Jodhaa Akbar, targeted for depicting Jodhaa as Akbar's wife. Nine years later, it's Padmavati. "The three-minute trailer gives us an idea of what the film is about. That is enough to express dissent," says Kalvi who hasn't seen the film and doesn't trust Bhansali to show him the final theatrical cut. "Deepika (Padukone, the heroine) is a nalayak (stupid). She challenged us, saying the film will be released at any cost. Now we are determined not to allow the release of the film anywhere."
This time around, the Sena's angry rhetoric has been empowered by the Rajasthan government whose Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje wants a committee of historians, film experts and Rajput community members to scrutinise the film. The UP, MP, Gujarat and Punjab governments have also refused to allow the release of the film until the objectionable material is removed. At the time of writing, Maharashtra and Telangana too were contemplating a ban. In their opposition, there is consensus: Padmavati's release is a threat to law and order as it will hurt Rajput .

For the concluding Kill Padmavati: Part Two to unfold, one hopefully with a better-ending, the makers have been told to wait until Gujarat votes, according to sources at the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). At stake is the Rajput vote in Gujarat, amounting to six per cent of the voting population.

For the BJP, the growing alliance between the Karadia Rajputs and Patels, traditionally seen as rivals, in the coastal belt of Saurashtra is a worrying development. The Rajputs, meanwhile, believe Vaghani is guilty of arm-twisting tactics and "has an anti-Rajput mindset". Anxiety looms furthermore with both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh (which has the second highest Rajput population, after Rajasthan), going to polls in 2018.

Airtel introduces Rs 198 pack to offer 1GB data per day, counters Vodafone's Rs 199 plan Let's take a look at who's offering a better plan -- Airtel or Vodafone?

Bharti Airtel announces a new plan for its prepaid users at Rs 198. Under the new plan, the telecom operator is offering 1GB of 3G and 4G data to its users every day and comes with the validity of 28 days. This new plan by Airtel is said to directly counter Vodafone's newly announced Rs 199 plan. Let's take a look at who's offering a better plan -- Airtel or Vodafone?

Coming to the Airtel's plan first, which comes at a price of Rs 198. Under this new plan, Airtel is offering 1GB of data to its users per day for a valid time period of 28 days. However, it is noteworthy that the new Rs 198 plan doesn't offer voice calling facility - which is supposedly one of the major thumbs down factor of the plan.

Note: Airtel hasn't yet official announced the Rs 198 plan. According to TelecomTalk - who was the first one to report about the plan, this new plan by Airtel - for the time being - is  available only for select customers. Going by the report, as of now, this plan is available for Airtel prepaid numbers registered in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh circle. This plan was found listed under the best recharges category on MyAirtel app.

Airtel's Rs 198 plan directly counters Vodafone's newly introduced Rs 199 plan. Under the Rs 199 pack, Vodafone offers both voice calls and data facilities. It offers 1GB of data. But then, the 1GB of data comes with the validity of 28 days. Additionally, the Rs 199 Vodafone plan also provides unlimited calls, but then, not literally. It comes with a lot of limitations.

By unlimited calls, we often mean that we will be able to make as many calls for as long as possible to any network. But, that's not happening is this case of the new Vodafone plan as it comes with a lot of limitations. Under the new plan, Vodafone prepaid users will be able to make unlimited calls for only 250 minutes in a day -- both local and STD and to any network, while the weekly limitation is 1000 minutes.

In that case, what happens if you make more than 250 min calls in a day? In that case, Vodafone will charge 30 paise per minute call. There's another limitation. If you make calls to more than 300 unique numbers in a week, Vodafone will charge you 30 paise per minute for the remaining validity. Alongside the data and call offers, this plan also offers free subscription to Vodafone Play to the customers.

It is noteworthy that both the Airtel and Vodafone plans are available only for the prepaid users.

Xiaomi India Launches Smartphone Exchange Programme: Here's How It WorksThis Xiaomi initiative is the company's latest move to boost offline sales

Xiaomi ties up with New Delhi-based Cashify to launch exchange programme

The exchange value will be determined by Cashify team
Customers need to visit nearby Mi Home to pick a new Xiaomi phone

Xiaomi on Tuesday launched Mi Exchange programme in India as part of its efforts to boost domestic presence and enhance its existing sales. The Chinese company has partnered with New Delhi-based Cashify to let Indian customers exchange their existing handsets with new Xiaomi smartphones.

The new development emerges days after an IDC report claimed that the Chinese brand had joined Samsung as the top sm
artphone vendor in the country in the third quarter this year. Xiaomi has been focusing on the offline channels of late to expand its sales, and has introduced new products to keep its portfolio fresh.

Under the Mi Exchange programme, customers need to visit a Mi Home store nearby their location to buy a new Xiaomi smartphone in return of their old phone. The Cashify team will determine the value of the dated model and then propose a suitable amount that will be discounted for the new Xiaomi offering. The resale value of the handset in exchange will be based on the Cashify app. This means that you can get a preview of the amount you would receive on the exchange of your handset by heading over to the Cashify site.

Customers exchanging their old phones for a new Xiaomi smartphone can also opt for a pickup service from Cashify through which their dated handsets will be picked up right from their phone location. In this case, the customers will be required to pay the complete amount for their new purchase at the Mi Home store and Cashify will pay them for their old models at a later stage.

"In collaboration with Cashify, we have introduced a new programme - Mi Exchange which lets you exchange your old smartphone for a new Xiaomi smartphone. What you need to do is simply bring your old smartphone to a nearest Mi Home," Xiaomi said while announcing the new development through its community forums.

It is worth noting here that the resale value of the old phone will be evaluated by the Cashify team on the basis of its condition and market value. Also, only one device can be exchanged with an available Xiaomi smartphone at Mi Home, and the unit being exchanged should be listed in Cashify portfolio.

Debuted in India back in July 2015, Xiaomi already has a strong presence in the market. While the affordable handsets are the key to the success of the Beijing-headquartered company, its expansion through online and offline channels has also helped in taking on the competition. The company established as many as 13 Mi Home outlets across the country in just seven months

Donald Trump slams 'haters' over Russia, takes dig at North Korea's Kim Jong-Un

Trump's tweets also focused on North Korea and its nuclear weapons ambitions that have been a dominant theme on each leg of his Asia tour.

US President Donald Trump unleashed atwitter storm from his Asia tour on Sunday, slamming "haters and fools" who question his efforts to improve ties with Russia and taking a sarcastic dig at North Korea's "short and fat" leader Kim Jong-Un.
Currently on the Vietnam leg of a five-nation sweep through the region, the US president, who has been relatively quiet on Twitter since leaving Washington, put out half a dozen tweets in quick succession ahead of his official welcoming ceremony in Hanoi.
The missives covered a range of targets and subjects -- from the critics of his desire for a close relationship with RussianPresidentVladimir Putin to China's efforts to rein inPyongyang's nuclear weapons programme.
And they ended with a tongue-in-cheek tweet about his efforts to make "a friend" of North Korea's Kim.
"When will all the haters and fools out there realise that having a good relationship with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing," wrote the US president, who met with Putin several times on the margins of the just concluded APEC summit in the Vietnamese resort of Danang.

"He (Putin) said he didn't meddle. I asked him again," Trump said. "I really believe that when he tells me that, he means it."
In May, US intelligence chiefs told Congress they agreed with their analysts' conclusion that Russia had meddled in the election.
And in January, 17 US intelligence agencies took the extraordinary step of stating publicly that they believed Russia did try to interfere.
In a statement to CNN after Trump's remarks on Air Force One, CIA director Mike Pompeo, who was appointed by Trump, said he still believed in that evaluation.
Immediately after his Twitter tirade on Sunday, Trump was greeted by a guard of honour and flag-waving schoolchildren at a damp welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi's historic French quarter.
President Xi of China has stated that he is upping the sanctions against (North Korea). Said he wants them to denuclearise. Progress is being made," he wrote.

The US administration thinks China's economic leverage over North Korea is the key to strong-arming Pyongyang into halting its nuclear weapons and missile programmes.
