Barun Thakur may have been right.

The probe into the most sensational murder case in recent times turned on its head on Wednesday when the CBIidentified a 16-year-old Class 11 student of the same school — the Ryan campus in Gurgaon's Bhondsi — as the prime suspect. The motive? The boy, according to the agency, wanted to defer an exam that day and postpone a parent-teacher meeting (PTM) and had allegedly been exploring ways of doing it.

 A senior CBI officer said the accused student (name withheld) "planned the murder to simply postpone the exam, which was going on at the time, and the scheduled PTM" as he believed something big would force the authorities to shut the school".

The central agency virtually gave a clean chit to Kumar , who Gurgaon police had claimed committed the murder while trying to sexually assault the child. The CBI said it had not found anything against Kumar or any sign of a sexual assault attempt on Pradhyumn, as cops had claimed.

Pradhyumn, a Class 2 student, was found with his throat slit just outside the groundfloor washroom of the school on September 8 morning, minutes after his father had walked him and his elder sister Vidhi (who is in the fifth standard) to the campus. Pradhyumn had gone to his classroom after saying bye to Vidhi, and then to the washroom at the other end of the floor.

The CBI officer said the Class 11 student "lured Pradhyum inside on the pretext of discussing something important, and within seconds, slit his throat". "Somebody was going to die that day. He came prepared that he was going to use the knife he was carrying on someone. Pradhyumn just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time," the officer added.

 "I went blank and just did it," is what the boy reportedly told CBI sleuths during questioning. The same knife, which CBI described as the "murder weapon", was shown by Gurgaon police as used by Ashok Kumar, the central agency said. The agency said it is verifying from the accused's classmates, friends and teachers whether he carried a knife two days before the murder as well and feared teachers may complain to his parents in the next PTM. The knife was recovered by Gurgaon police from a commode in the toilet.

CBI spokesperson Abhishek Dayal said the accused was "weak in studies", hence wanted the ongoing exams and PTM postponed. The CBI said its investigators zeroed in on the Class 11 student as the "prime suspect" after repeated inspection of the crime spot, scrutiny of CCTV footage, call records and questioning several people, including teachers, other students and staff.

Royal Enfield to launch heavyweight bike today, to take on Harley Davidson's popular Street 750 in India

Harley-Davidson Inc’s pole position in India’s fast growing big-bike category is set to face a sweeping test when Indian-owned Royal Enfield launches its first heavyweight bike on Tuesday.
The world’s biggest bike and scooter market with 18 million in the year to last March, India accounts for less than 2 percent of Harley’s global sales but is now a production location for its popular Street 750 bike and a promising generator of growth as US demand slows.

Harley was the first major player in the country’s big bike market - defined as those with engines above 601cc - and controls 60 percent of a segment that has almost tripled in size since 2014 and is expected to double again in the next 4-5 years.
With the arrival of Royal Enfield, however, it faces a locally-owned distribution network that dwarfs Harley’s roughly 30 outlets by a multiple of 24.

Were Enfield to ship even 10 of its new big bikes to each of its about 700 locations, it could double Harley’s 3,700 in annual sales.
A day before the new bike’s launch, Royal Enfield on Monday unveiled a 650cc twin engine, putting it on track to compete squarely with the Street 750.

Industry analysts and commentators say that Harley’s distribution network in India must be expanded if it is to deal with the new competition and rising demand from the country’s 1 billion plus consumers.
“Having outlet numbers in the mid twenties is clearly a thin distribution spread,” SBICAP Securities analyst Mahantesh Sabarad said.
“India has over 30 10-million-plus cities and each such city needs 2-3 dealerships to cater to a budding market of bike enthusiasts.”
Asked about the new bike last month, Harley Chief Executive Matthew Levatich told Reuters that he would not dismiss a competitor’s strengths but that he had faith in Harley’s brand and would not be changing strategy.

Popular enthusiasm for commuting bikes in India’s densely populated city streets provides a far larger rider base than in western markets where Harley sells most of its bikes.
Harley plans to increase its network but is cautious about undermining its premium brand and has had problems with complaints about bike servicing in India in the past.

“The specific plans and the rate at which we (expand) is a function of finding a big enough market area and a really competent dealer that can make the investments to have the brand experience that we want to have for riders,” Levatich said.
“So that’s part of the formula, which will naturally make it probably slower and less dense than most of our competitors will do. But that’s our strategy and we are sticking to it.”

Royal Enfield’s new bike - to be unveiled in Milan on Tuesday - is expected to retail at around Rs 300,000 ($4,640) compared to Harley’s Street 750 at more than 500,000 rupees.

Arvind Kejriwal Suggests Shutting Schools Over Dangerous Delhi Smog

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, called for the few days' holiday in schools as a choking blanket of smog covered the world's most polluted capital city today, impelling a top medical body to declare a "public health emergency".

Mr Kejriwal tweeted that he had asked his Education Minister Manish Sisodia to consider closing schools for a few days. "Every year, during this time of the year, Delhi becomes a gas chamber for almost a month," Mr Kejriwal said in tweets, calling for a solution.

The Indian Medical Association has called for an annual half marathon on November 19 to be cancelled to protect runners and volunteers from high levels of deadly particulate matter.

The air quality index, which measures the concentration of poisonous particulate matter in the air, hit the "severe" level of 451 on a scale where the maximum reading is 500 and where anything above 100 is considered unhealthy by the Central Pollution Control Board.

In some parts of Delhi, the air quality was so poor that it was beyond the maximum level, according to the U.S. embassy's real-time air quality index.

 The embassy's website said that levels of the fine pollutants known as PM2.5 that are most harmful to health reached 703 -- well over double the threshold of 300 that is classed as hazardous. It stood at 999 for the RK Puram area, beyond which no readings are available.

That level is equal to smoking 50 cigarettes a day, Arvind Kumar, chairman for chest surgery at Sir Ganga Ram hospital, told Reuters.

If that wasn't enough, Flipkart will be also offering a whopping Rs 25,000 off on exchange, which will bring the effective cost of the phone down even further: to Rs 5,090 to be precise. Woman discovers husband's affair mid-air, Qatar Airways forced to divert flight after ruckus


While her husband was blissfully asleep on a flight from Doha, probably dreaming of Bali, a woman managed to unlock his smartphone and found some excess baggage: she discovered he was cheating on her.

The flight headed to Bali was diverted and landed in Chennai after the Iranian woman created a ruckus mid-air. Security agencies said she was drunk.

The Iranian couple were travelling with their young child on the Qatar Airways flight on Sunday which had no stopover in India.
"On November 5, at about 10 am, Qatar Airways flight QR-962 (Doha-Bali) was diverted to Chennai. A lady along with her husband and a child, all Iranian nationals, were offloaded by the airline, which had no stopover, as the woman created a ruckus and misbehaved with crew members inflight," said a senior security officer.

Sources told Mail Today that the husband fell asleep an hour after take-off. The woman who suspected infidelity took advantage of the opportunity. "She unlocked her sleeping husband's phone by putting his finger on its scanner and after checking the contents realised that her husband was cheating on her," they said.

The woman, who was allegedly inebriated, got into a heated altercation with her husband. When the crew intervened and tried to pacify her she also purportedly misbehaved with them.

"Seeing the situation getting out of hand, the crew decided to offload the woman along with her husband and their child. The pilot diverted the flight to Chennai, where the family was de-boarded. The plane went ahead to Bali leaving them in India," an official said.
Authorities in Chennai decided to keep the family at the airport till the woman got sober. Later, they were put on a plane to Kuala Lumpur and taken to Doha by a connecting flight from there.

"The family was de-boarded due to the ruckus created by her but no FIR was registered as there was no security issue. They stayed in Chennai for a while and later the family was sent to Kuala Lumpur by Batik Air flight 6019 for further travel to Doha," said the official.
Sources said the family also came under some intense security scrutiny because they didn't have any Indian visa.

Qatar Airways issued a statement, saying, "In respect of passenger privacy we do not comment on individual cases."
A Mumbai-based businessman was arrested last month for making a hoax bomb threat on a Jet Airways Mumbai-Delhi flight to get his love.

The passenger admitted to faking a bomb scare to win the affections of a Jet Airways employee. The same man last year created a ruckus and alleged that he was served cockroach in his meal when he was travelling business class. He claimed that he fell ill soon after, but the issue did not get much attention.
In March this year, an Egyptian man hijacked a plane and forced it to divert to Cyprus, demanding to see his ex-wife. He surrendered after a six-hour airport standoff.

A Delta flight had to turn around just 20 minutes after take-off when a couple began fighting with the plane's crew shortly after it left Minneapolis in December 2016. Blake Adam Fleisig, 35, and Anna Christine Koosmann, 36, were both arrested after the plane was diverted.

"Honor shipped 98.8 per cent more devices in 2017 than in 2016. But in India, we need strengthen offline channels," Zhao said, adding that exclusive Honor demo shops will also be launched in India soon.
